Founded in 1876, Edgbaston High School is Birmingham’s oldest independent school for girls and provides 21st century education based on traditional values.

The school’s aim is to provide the highest quality of education for girls at every stage of their development. In a purposeful atmosphere for learning, personal and academic growth are enhanced by the richness of opportunity offered through a broad and progressive curriculum, and stimulating extracurricular programme.

One of the features of EHS is the continuity of education it offers: the Pre-Prep, Preparatory, Senior and Sixth Form departments on site work together to cater for girls aged two-and-a-half to 18 years. Pupils across all departments enjoy a broad and balanced curriculum: they achieve high academic standards under the guidance of supportive teaching staff and an extensive variety of sporting and creative interests are encouraged. Year 13 leavers go on to study a diverse range of competitive degree courses at some of the country’s most sought-after universities.

EHS has strong community links within the leafy oasis of the Calthorpe Estate, in particular, West House Independent Preparatory School for Boys. West House operates a minibus shuttle service to assist families with children at both EHS and West House School.

An education that stays with you for life.
